Nature School isn’t a single class or a one-time walk.
It’s an ongoing series created to help women feel more confident, capable, and comfortable spending time outdoors — no matter their experience level.
Each Nature School session focuses on a different skill or way of interacting with nature, taught in a supportive, real-world setting. Together, these topics build confidence over time, instead of expecting you to “just know” how to navigate the outdoors.
Why Nature School Exists
Many women want to spend more time outside because they know it’s good for their mental and physical health — but something holds them back.
Often, it’s not lack of interest.
It’s lack of confidence.
Common concerns we hear:
“I’m afraid of getting lost.”
“I don’t know which trails are right for me.”
“I don’t feel comfortable going off paved paths.”
“I want to explore, but I don’t know how.”
Nature School was created to bridge that gap.
Instead of assuming outdoor skills come naturally, Nature School teaches them gently and intentionally, one topic at a time.
What Makes Nature School Different
Nature School is:
Skill-based, not performance-based
Beginner-friendly and judgment-free
Focused on awareness, safety, and confidence
Designed for real life, not extreme outdoor adventure
Each session includes:
A specific learning focus
Simple, practical instruction
A guided outdoor experience where skills are practiced in real time
This approach allows women to learn by doing — without pressure.
Topics You’ll Explore in Nature School
Because Nature School is a series, each month introduces a new way to connect with and understand the outdoors. Topics include things like:
Learning how to find and navigate trails safely using tools like the AllTrails app
Identifying plants, trees, and wildlife using apps like Seek
Understanding seasonal changes in nature
Nature journaling and observation
Birding, sky awareness, and sound mapping
Night nature walks and intuitive awareness
Geocaching and playful exploration
Each session stands alone, but together they create a well-rounded foundation for exploring nature with confidence.
February Nature School: Trail Confidence & Safety
Our February session focuses on one of the most important outdoor skills:
how to safely find, choose, and navigate trails.
We’ll meet at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve and learn how to use the AllTrails app to:
Choose trails that match your ability and energy
Understand distance, elevation, and difficulty
Read trail conditions and reviews
Navigate without fear of getting lost
This session is especially helpful for women who stick to paved paths simply because they don’t trust themselves to navigate unpaved trails — yet.
What Women Gain from the Nature School Series
Women who participate in Nature School don’t just leave with information. They leave with:
Increased confidence outdoors
Reduced anxiety around trails and navigation
Practical tools they can use anywhere
A deeper connection to nature
A sense of independence that carries beyond the trail
Many women discover they didn’t dislike hiking or nature — they just needed guidance.
Who Nature School Is For
Nature School is designed for:
Women who are curious about nature but unsure where to start
Beginners who want to learn without pressure
Women who value mental health, gentle movement, and growth
Anyone who wants to explore the outdoors safely and confidently
You don’t need experience.
You don’t need special gear.
You just need curiosity.
Learning Nature, One Skill at a Time
Nature School is part of the Adventure Ladies mission to help women reconnect with themselves and the world around them through meaningful, confidence-building experiences.
By learning one outdoor skill at a time, women begin to trust themselves — not just on the trail, but in everyday life.
And that’s where real growth happens 🌿
